Seven different pianists and/or singers have their complete output released on this collector's CD. Well, at least five do since Jesse Clayton (heard on two numbers) is possibly Doctor Clayton and the previously unissued "Throw Me Down" features an unknown pianist who may be guitarist Skip James on his second instrument. Also included is singer I.C. Prigett (who is backed by pianist Clarence T. Walker), vocalist Willie Jones (on two songs), seven selections by singer-pianist Barrelhouse Buck McFarland, eight by pianist-singer Charles Segar (including four excellent piano solos) and two piano solos by Doug Suggs from 1956 (his only recordings although he was really based in the 1930s). There are enough bright moments along the way to make this intriguing set easily recommended to vintage blues collectors. ~ Scott Yanow
