    Michigan's Auburn Lull play a brand of dreamy, high-minded space-rock that shares with contemporaries like Mahogany, and betrays a fondness for Galaxie 500, Spiritualized, and the ambient albums of Brian Eno. On BEGIN CIVIL TWILIGHT, Auburn Lull guide delicate pop melodies through a swirling haze of guitars and ambient noise to beautiful effect ("Light Through the Canopy" and "Civil Twilight" are two excellent cases in point). The tunes are subordinated to the delicious sonic wash, which is exactly how Auburn Lull wants it. Fans of first wave space-rock have reason to rejoice at this revival.
