    Recording information: 1998-1999.
Peter "Pita" Rehberg embraced the frequent-flying lifestyle of the laptop set and spent much of 1998 and 1999 far from his hometown of Vienna, Austria. This new breed of musician circles the globe with little more than a Powerbook and a suitcase, setting up anywhere--hotel rooms, private homes, train stations--and drawing from a hard-disk drive packed with sounds and DSP (digital signal processing) software.
The nine untitled, relatively brief pieces on GET OUT were created in various settings as Pita's travels took him through Vienna, Paris, Oxford, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and New York. In keeping with the WYSIWYG creed of the computer user, what you hear on GET OUT was affected with only a minimum of postproduction "file management." Pita maintains the unique, visceral character of his earlier SEVEN TONS FOR FREE while demonstrating a highly advanced sense of composition. He chooses to construct pieces with the most unworkable and impaired samples imaginable, but every sound finds its perfect place in the music, regardless of irregularity. Pita's singular grasp of dynamics and flair for performance--oriented dramatics reach a memorable apex on the third track, as a fierce blizzard of digital disturbance engulfs GET OUT's lone (and painfully poignant) melody.
