Volume 10 of Omega Point's OBSCURE TAPE MUSIC OF JAPAN series highlights the music of Hiroaki Minami, an unsung pioneer of early Japanese electronic music. A former professor at Tokyo National University, Minami nurtured a growing fascination with engineering and electronics, applying his experiments with transistors and vacuum tube technology to musical applications. This collection consists of the entirety of the composer's 1977 piece, "Electronic Symphony No. 1," a five-movement opus of spacey, droning electronics composed using Minami's own primitive homebuilt synthesizers.
