  • A haunting documentary that tells the true life story of Teena Brandon, a Nebraska female who moved to Falls City, Nebraska, in 1993 and passed herself off as a male. When Brandon's newfound friends learned that he was, in fact, a female, their angry confusion triggered a series of brutal, horrific events that ended with the death of Teena and two other individuals. Interviews with actual players, including Brandon's girlfriend Lana Tisdel, as well as the murderers Tom and John, combined with audio tapes from Brandon's police interrogations, make this a poignant, unforgettable expose of homophobia and prejudice in small town America. Inspiration for the acclaimed 1999 feature film BOYS DON'T CRY.
