  • A true classic of Mexican cinema, LA NOCHE AVANZA is a tale of money and revenge amongst gamblers, criminals, and the women who surround them. Marcos, a jai-alai player who makes money from challenging other players to matches, has abandoned his pregnant lover Rebecca for wild girl Sara. This angers Rebecca's brother Armando, but he has problems of his own with crime boss Marcial, to whom he owes a sizable gambling debt. However, Marcial spies a way to get the money Armando owes him through blackmailing Marcos over Rebecca's pregnancy. Marcos agrees to toss his next jai-alai match, but at the last moment reneges on his promise and wins. This sets off a horrible chain reaction of events that will leave some characters dead and others destitute.
