  • On many levels, the long-running BBC drama UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS became one of the most successful series of its parent network. The by-now-familiar premise contrasts the experiences of the Bellamys, a family of wealthy, aristocratic Britons ('Upstairs'), with those of their loyal servants ('Downstairs'), as all share a residence at the townhouse 165 Eaton Place, London. The program's final season (its fifth) covers the eleven-year period of 1919 through 1930. Highlights include Lord and Lady Bellamy commencing a life together, James's last ignominy in front of the family, and much more.
