  • WATERLAND: Tom Crick (Jeremy Irons) is a withered history teacher whose students don't find his lessons on the French Revolution worthwhile. So instead, Tom spends class time telling his students about some 30-year-old family skeletons he's trying, hopelessly, to forget. Though he shares them with his students, Tom's problems are wholly intimate: his wife, Mary, haunted by painful memories, is on the brink of insanity. But as Tom continues to talk, he goes further and further back in time, narrating a personal and social history filled with jealously, madness and death.

    MONSTER IN A BOX is another one of Spalding Gray's one-man stage shows about his battle with an 1,800-page "monster," better known as his unfinished novel that no longer fits inside the box that holds it.

PARKER AND THE VICIOUS CIRCLE: Robert Altman produced this evocative portrait of renowned writer and wit Dorothy Parker, which chronicles her boozy adventures both in Manhattan as a writer for The New Yorker and member of the celebrated Algonquin roundtable, and later in Hollywood as a screenwriter.
