Salsa. Merengue. Lambada. Do it all to the sizzlin' and fresh music of Herb Alpert's tropical PASSION DANCE. This album contains some of his greatest works. Since his Tijuana Brass days, Alpert has shown himself to have an affinity for distinct combinations of torrid tempos, eclectic sound mixes, and Latin themes.
On "Slinky," he pools his resources to produce a song of burning physicality. The tight orchestration of coy cornet and exotic drums in Alpert's "Baila Conmigo" acts as an aphrodisiac on the listener. These tracks are almost all strictly for dancing, such is the predominance of the percussive rhythm. If your feet get tired, sit down and let the sheer artistry of Alpert's blazing trumpet and the incessant movement of the entire band do the work for you. You'll be back up before you know it.
