  • This artistic black-and-white film unfolds in two parts, each in a different construction site in Argentina. The first half of the movie takes place on the rooftop of a tall city building where a gigantic mechanical crane gracefully skims the skyline. The second site, 300 kilometers away from the first, is alongside a barren, dusty road where backhoes dig trenches for underground water pipes. The link between the two is Rulo (Margani), a middle-aged man who was a bass player in a successful pop band in his youth, and who is now starting over as a construction worker. Rulo has a close family with lively, supportive parents and a teenage son--also a budding musician--who he is challenged to support. In the first half of the movie, Rulo is happy-go-lucky, with few worries, good friends, a knack for fixing mechanical devices, and pride in his job as a crane operator. In the second half, when Rulo leaves the city and his family to join an amateur team of construction workers and drive a backhoe, he finds himself in the middle of a labor dispute over food, wages, and conditions, and reveals his darker side.
