In any suspenseful action/thriller, things are not what they seem. KHAKEE's seemingly straightforward plot tracks a crack team of police commanded by DCP Anant Shrivastav (Amitabh Bachchan)--assisted by knowledgeable witness Mahalakshmi (Aishwary Rai)--as they attempt to transport Ansari (Atul Kulkarni), a dangerous terrorist, from Chandigarh to Mumbai. Yeshwant Angre (Ajay Devgan), a former police officer and ruthless killer, is set on derailing the operation. He has an agenda of his own, known only to Ansari. In addition, a hidden world of corruption and deception threatens the heroes, and may prove more dangerous in the end than the obvious enemy. Director Rajkumar Santoshi maintains the tension throughout as the film builds to its surprising conclusion.
