Discover the story of Roger Keith Coleman, the convicted rapist and murderer who maintained his innocence from the moment he was arrested, right up until his execution in the electric chair on May 20, 1992. On March 10, 1981, 19-year-old Wanda McCoy was raped, stabbed to death, and nearly beheaded in her own home. All evidence pointed to Coleman as the primary suspect and he was convicted of the crime five years later. Throughout his trial and subsequent stint on Death Row, Coleman was adamant that he was the unfortunate victim of a grave injustice, claims that prompted anti-death-penalty activists to cite his case as a key argument in the abolition of the capital punishment. Fourteen years after Coleman's execution, supporters and detractors anticipated the results of DNA tests that could finally confirm his guilt or absolve him of any wrongdoing. On January 12, 2006, Virginia governor Mark Warner announced that the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto had concluded that there was almost no question Coleman was guilty as charged.
