Japanese director Shinya Tsukamoto followed his cult classic TETSUO: THE IRON MAN with the uncharacteristic horror comedy HIRUKO THE GOBLIN. Something strange is going on at the local high school, and archaeologist Hieda comes to investigate, fearing the worst. Joining his investigation is student Masao, and the pair discover just what Hieda suspected: that the school was built on top of an ancient gateway into the depths of hell! Emerging from those depths is the spider-like goblin Hiruko, who stalks the hallways of the school in search of human heads from which to create his demonic army. Can Masao and Hieda stymie the evil Hiruko's plans in time to save mankind?
