After their primatologist father dies in Africa, Ellen (Grant) is forced to care for her disturbed younger sister, Cissy (Kane). When Ellen, desperate for a relationship with a normal human being, takes up with fellow astronomer David, Cissy becomes even further unhinged with tragic consequences in store.
