    Mexican-American siren Jenni Rivera started turning heads at the tail end of the 1990s, and a decade down the line she had become one of the pre-eminent female singers in the Mexican music scene. The 2008 album JENNI spotlights her abilities as a banda/corrido singer (her first love and main stylistic focus), but it also shows that she's versatile enough to handle mariachi, norteno, tejano, ranchero--the whole range of regional Mexican sounds. Throughout the album, her strong, confident voice leads the way fearlessly, whatever the musical mode.
