YE ME LE is a 1969 efford by Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66, including covers of Jimmy Webb's "Wichita Lineman," and the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood."
    Japanese edition.
Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66: Sergio Mendes (vocals, keyboards); Lani Hall, Karen Philipp (vocals); Oscar Castro-Neves (guitar); Sebastian Neto (bass instrument); Dom Um Romao (drums); Rubens Bassini (percussion).
    Additional personnel: Dave Grusin.
Released the same year as CRYSTAL ILLUSIONS, 1969's YE ME LE presents another set of highly accessible bossa nova by pianist Sergio Mendes and his Brasil '66 ensemble. Loaded with more pop covers than past outings, this set is most notable for Mendes's take on Jimmy Webb's "Wichita Lineman," which moves along on an bubbling undercurrent of Latin rhythms. YE ME LE also finds the group revisiting Beatles territory (after its hit rendition of "Fool on the Hill") with a busy arrangement of "Norwegian Wood," and careening through a fast-paced version of the Bacharach/David tune "What the World Needs Now."
