BORROWED TIME is a mellow-toned and thoroughly satisfying date from guitarist Steve Kahn that is characterized by top-grade musicianship and the variety of its material. Tunes by McCoy Tyner, Ornette Coleman, Thelonious Monk, and Rodgers and Hart are re-imagined through Khan's six-string, and Khan also contributes two worthy originals. The overall stature of the set is heightened by the appearance of bassist John Pattituci, flugelhornist Randy Brecker, and vocalist Gabriela Anders.
