Led by guitarist Richard Smith, the L.A. Chillharmonic specializes in sunny, pop-oriented smooth jazz on its self-tiled 2008 debut. Smith clearly knows how to assemble a top-notch band, with renowned players such as keyboardist Jeff Lorber and drummers Alex Acuna and Vinnie Colaiuta contributing their technical expertise to tunes such as the lightly funky "Checkin' You Out."

  • Critic Reviews
JazzTimes (p.102) - "It's nice to hear underrated pianist Rushen and her gorgeous vocalese on 'Gift'....Stevie Wonder's 'Boogie on Reggae Woman' is the show-off song, giving everyone a chance to play on a full-fledged romp."
