Dwele's particular style of seduction soul blends a 1970s jazz sound (think Bobby Caldwell or George Benson) with slightly jagged hip-hop beats for a neo-soul sound distinctly his own. His 2008 release, SKETCHES OF A MAN, is both sultry and playful whether reveling in a current love ("Feels So Good") or sneakily searching for a new one ("I'm a Cheater"). A high point of the album comes on Dwele's logical and impassioned cover of Caldwell's classic "Open Your Eyes" (also popular in the neo-soul universe as the sampled chorus to Common's "The Light").
