That O.C. has provocative rhymes and sharp skills on the mic is indisputable, but it is his collaboration with producer Mike Loe that really gives SMOKE AND MIRRORS its legs. Loe's tracks can be epic and sweeping, with cinematic touches, yet he is not averse to throwing in an R&B-flavored hook or an experimental break. Lean, smart, and possessed of that all-too-rare hip-hop integrity, SMOKE AND MIRRORS is a powerful effort from Loe and the no-nonsense O.C.
