    DJ: The Rapture.
The Rapture's 2008 release, !K7 TAPES, is not an album of new material by the band. Instead, it's a collection of mixes, made by the band, of tracks by other artists. TAPES plays like a catch-as-catch-can sampler of dance music through the ages, connecting the dots between funk, disco, house music, hip-hop, and electronica.
Whether mining vintage grooves (the Bar-Kays' "Holy Ghost"), East Coast hip-hop (Ghostface Killah's "Daytona 500"), or deep club tracks (Dances With White Girls "Everybody's Got to Make a Living"), the members of the Rapture draw on the sensibility that has made their band of the frontrunners of the dance-rock scene. TAPES proves them as capable behind the boards (as they are in front) of moving minds and hips.

  • Critic Reviews
Rolling Stone (p.124) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Kicking off with the Undisputed Truth's 'Earthquake Shake,' the set gets rowdy fast, with Junkyard Band and the Bar-Kays."
