Plug Research rounds up an impressive stable of talent for Voices in My Lunchbox, a 13-track compilation featuring such producers as Herbert, DNTEL, Phoenecia, Chicks on Speed, John Tejada, Kit Clayton, Pulsinger, and Ectomorph. All of the tracks incorporate vocals, which gives the compilation a conceptual foundation. There are numerous highlights here, perhaps most glaringly the opening track, Herbert's "Back to the Start," which is highlighted by some beautiful vocals from Dani Siciliano. It's a wonderful beginning to a strong compilation. ~ Jason Birchmeier

  • Critic Reviews
Alternative Press (7/00, p.78) - 4 out of 5 - "...This disc bristles with heavy hitters, all collectively stretching the voice into something strange....these voices throb and fester, crawling with digital worms. Dig in!"
The Wire (4/00, p.61) - "...Documents electronica's capacity to create haunting music....Filled with wistful, childlike vocals and sparse, unsettling synthscapes punctuated with schoolyard melodies..."
NME (Magazine) (3/11/00, p.35) - 8 out of 10 - "...If variety is, as is said, the spice of life, then VOICES would be the minute specks of Teflon that are unwittingly digested after a well-cooked stir fry. Discomfortingly nourishing."
