Christina Rosenvinge sings quietly, almost at a whisper on Frozen Pool. Thus she draws the listener deeper into some of the most personal, intimate indie pop music available. Going opposite the usual career path, Rosenvinge moved from being an '80s pop star of the Latin world on WEA Latin America to being an indie songstress recording personal, heartfelt music recorded at Sonic Youth's studio and produced by Lee Renaldo. She separated herself from her Latin pop past with a new direction and career after relocating to New York City. The sparse rock songs are comparable to some of Nico's material, and the slight bossa nova feel to the rhythms here combined with her vocals recall '60s European vocalists like Franoise Hardy.
