After over 30 years as the lead singer and face of Heart, Ann Wilson's first solo album is a collection of covers of vintage 1960s and '70s rock anthems, many of them seemingly chosen for their connection to the sociopolitical climate of 2007. This means lots of anti-war anthems along the lines of Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rain's A -Gonna Fall" and, more obliquely, Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising." Throughout, Wilson is in fine, powerful voice, and the album's simple, hard rocking arrangements keep her still remarkable singing front and center throughout.
