Here's an album that asks the musical question--how many Bryan Adams clones does one country really need? Doubtless Australian Jimmy Barnes comes by his rock & roll heart honestly, but hooking up with the likes of Jonathan Cain (the Babys, Journey, Bad English), he's making standard-issue corporate designer rock here just emotive enough to stir things up without obscuring those backup vocals by Kim Carnes. (Okay, sometimes he doesn't sound like Bryan Adams. Sometimes he sounds like Sammy Hagar instead.) The answer to the question: One less than Geffen Records was hoping. ~ William Ruhlmann
