OUR FAVORITE SHOP is the second album by Paul Weller's post-Jam band, the Style Council.
Remastered with songs presented in their original sequence order.
Our Favourite Shop, the Style Council's second proper album, was still quite eclectic, but it didn't seem as schizophrenically diverse as Cafe Bleu. Paul Weller had been able to incorporate his soul and jazz experiments into his songwriting, writing the fine "Walls Come Tumbling Down," "Come to Milton Keynes," "Boy Who Cried Wolf," and "Down in the Seine," which were some of his best songs for the Style Council. The occasional misguided experiment remained -- the stiff funk of "The Internationalists" and the self-righteous "The Stand Up Comic's Instructions" were particularly embarrassing -- but the record was more cohesive and stronger than the debut. In America, the album was released without "Our Favourite Shop" and retitled Internationalists. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Q (p.120) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he glory of OUR FAVOURITE SHOP is as much to do with its musical courage as socialist dogma....One of the most original pop albums of its decade..."
Uncut (p.100) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[W]hen OUR FAVOURITE SHOP dramatises rather than simply delivers slogans, it can be a powerful and even moving record."
Mojo (Publisher) (p.112) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Underrated delights such as 'The Piccadilly Trail', 'Spin Drifting' and 'Call Me' attest to the Council's talent for a crisply sophisticated kind of pop."
