Liner Note Author: Derek Barker .
No band is without influences, but some, like Pink Floyd, for instance, blend and merge those influences into a sound that feels singular and doesn't surrender clues easily. This set collects tracks that supposedly pushed or pulled Pink Floyd into being what they were, although it isn't clear sometimes where that connection shows, although it's safe to say that most of the artists in this playlist pretty much influenced and inspired everybody. The Pink Floyd connection aside, this sequence is fun and varied, and includes, among others, Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away," Slim Harpo's "I'm a King Bee," the Everly Brothers' "Bye Bye Love," Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind," Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Joe," the Band's "Up on Cripple Creek," and two selections from Miles Davis, "Gone" and "So What." ~ Steve Leggett
