Most famous for his many collaborations with Neil Young (see "Expecting to Fly" and "A Man Needs A Maid") as well as his soundtrack work with the maverick film community (ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST), Jack Nitzsche was already well known among late 1960s/early '70s hipsters as the era's ultimate string man when he released ST. GILES CRIPPLEGATE. This collection of moving symphonic pieces, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, grew out of Nitzsche's work for Young's HARVEST, and have a wonderfully schizoid quality, balancing beautiful cinematic movements with a flair for the avant-garde.
