  • Masterpiece Theatre presents this adaptation of Thomas Hardy's novel, which juxtaposes a torrid love quadrangle against the constantly shifting seasons of its Dorset, England setting. The plot centers on Bathsheba (Baeza), a beautiful and temperamental woman who provokes and toys with the desire of three men: Gabriel Oak, a dependable and loyal man, Mr. Boldwood, her shy and reserved neighbor, and Frank Troy, a soldier and Lothario who sweeps Bathsheba off her feet, but who soon realizes that their relationship is ultimately doomed.
