"I Finally Found Someone" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.
The soundtrack to this Barbra Striesand/Jeff Bridges film features a score by Marvin Hamlisch--who won three Oscars for his music for the 1974 Streisand vehicle "The Way We Were"--and two new Streisand songs, including "I Finally Found Someone," a duet with Canadian pop-rocker Bryan Adams. The sound is pure romance. Hamlisch's orchestral score is lush and poignant, evocative of the tender, dizzying feelings that accompany the discovery of love. Every shift in mood and tempo feels like a shift in the tides of a romantic relationship.
The soundtrack also features saxophonist David Sanborn's instrumental version of the chestnut "Try A Little Tenderness," and a cameo of Luciano Pavarotti flexing his phenomenal operatic chops on "Nessun Dorma." The album closes with a non-movie bonus--a stunning Streisand solo flight on a new song, "All Of My Life," written by Streisand with the "The Way We Were" songwriting team of Hamlisch and Alan and Marilyn Bergman.
