CONVERGENCE contains seven remarkable pieces of acoustic ambience, utilizing both commonplace instruments (flute, drums, and didgeridoo) and unorthodox ones ("carbon dreampipe," "garden weasel"). Melodies beam and refract over primordial rhythms, not quite traveling forward but breaking apart into new directions. "Black Bamboo" conforms closest to traditional Western song structure, without losing the transcendent feel of the surrounding tracks. "Tibet" shimmers with Tibetan bells, bowls, and drums, and sampled field recordings of throat-singing monks of Nagigumba. CONVERGENCE is a delicious and meditative travelogue of a deeper dimension.
