Founded by brothers Alex and Tom White, Brighton, England's Electric Soft Parade excels at guitar-driven indie rock that can be alternately jangly ("Appropriate Ending") and jagged ("Life in the Backseat"). More blatantly indebted to 1990s alternative rock than many of their '80s-obsessed Britpop peers, ESP shines the brightest during NO NEED TO BE DOWNHEARTED when they deliver amped-up oddball anthems, as on the Grandaddy-like "If That's the Case, Then I Don't Know."
