Released in 1999, this eclectic compilation pays tribute to Noel Coward, the renowned English jack-of-all trades who thrived in the early part of the 20th century as a playwright, director, actor, and singer. Sting offers up a delicate version of Coward's "I'll Follow My Secret Heart" and Elton John takes on the title track with a rollicking, horn-laden rendition. The artists who steal the show, however, are ones who regularly work in the showman's witty British milieu, namely the Divine Comedy, who contributes a seemingly faithful version of "I've Been to a Marvelous Party" that morphs into a techno-tinged rave-up, and Bryan Ferry, who eases into a lushly elegant performance of "I'll See You Again."
