"Here Comes Mr. Jordan" was followed by the 1947 sequel, "Down to Earth." Also directed by Alexander Hall, it starred Rita Hayworth as a the muse Terpsichord who comes to Earth to assist Larry Parks with his musical production. James Gleason, Edward Everett Horton, and Roland Culver reprised their characters from "Jordan."
The 1978 Warren Beatty vehicle, "Heaven Can Wait" was a remake of "Jordan." Beatty starred in, co-wrote, and co-directed the film, which also featured Julie Christie, Jack Warden, James Mason, Dyan Cannon, Charles Grodin, Buck Henry, and Vincent Gardenia. Henry shared directing duties with Beatty, while Elaine May shared writing.
And, finally, 1980 saw the release of "Xanadu," a remake of "Down to Earth." It starred Olivia Newton-John, Gene Kelly, Michael Beck, Sandahl Bergman, and the voices of Wilfred Hyde-White and Coral Browne. Don Bluth provided an animation sequence for the Robert Greenwald film, and ELO and John Farrar provided music.
Voyager laserdisc features a second audio track with commentary by star Robert Montgomery's daughter, Elizabeth Montgomery, who discusses the film, her father, and her own career.
