  • A King Screen production. This film used nonprofessional actors for many of the roles. Additional cast: Jacques Taylor (Jack Pomerance), Jean Leslie (Irene Pomerance), Ellen Herbert (Mae Klepper, Harry's sister), Sandra Kazan (Margie Plotnick Skolnik). Additional credits: Terry Lewis (editor), Howard Mandel (score composer), Peter Vollstadt (sound), Paul Jaeger (sound), Lily Partridge (costumes). Although the film was completed in 1969, it wasn't released until 1989. Twenty years later, when writer/director Michael Roemer transferred the film onto video to show his children, the technician working on it found it funny. This reaction inspired Roemer to try to exhibit the film. It was subsequently screened at the Toronto Festival of Festivals, the Park City and the New York Film Festivals in 1989, leading to theatrical release.

"...The performances in THE PLOT AGAINST HARRY have an engagingly natural quality....Behind the film's easygoing mood there is firm directorial control..."

"...A balmy, deliciously deadpan Jewish gangster comedy....It's a movie that's about something: the collision of old and new values, the thin line that separates crime and organized business, the wary complex bonds between families..."
