Bear Family's GONNA SHAKE THIS SHACK TONIGHT series focuses on the most uptempo, honky-tonkin' (sometimes rockabilly-tinged) tunes in the catalogs of various country heroes. Tackling the career of the ultimate country icon, this volume digs into Hank Williams' work and turns up both fun, freewheeling tunes like "Roly Poly" and intense, hard-hitting tracks like "You're Gonna Change (Or I'm Gonna Leave)." It also displays Williams' broad stylistic range, venturing into tunes with touches of Western swing and proto-rockabilly in addition to the expected honky-tonk songs. A few posthumously overdubbed (by members of Williams' original band) rockabilly tracks add an interesting historical perspective to the proceedings as well.
Dirty Linen (p.66) - "Focusing on the last five years of his life, this Bear Family release shows how foundational the Alabama-born singer/songwriter was."
