  • Baltimore-based, blues-inspired jam band The Bridge has become a local phenomenon with their gritty take on a traditional, Southern-fried sound. A quintet led by songwriter Chris Jacob's guitar work and expressive voice, the group is comprised of Kenny Liner's mandolin, Adam Iorfida's saxophone, and a rhythm section of bassist Dave Markowitz and drummer John Thomakos, who uses an upturned trash can for an instrument. As an unexpected ingredient, Liner often throws in some beatboxing as well. This show took place in The Bridge's hometown venue, the Funk Box, where they did a four-week Wednesday-night residency in 2005. The sold-out show included 12 of the band's best-loved songs, as well as 4 new ones. The band performed with a fun-loving enthusiasm tinged with hard-luck and a rootsy flavor, which has garnered it the loyal fan base in evidence here.
