This collection of doo wop from the reliable Ace label is classic in sound, but not a solid representation of the best groups in this genre and era. Still, collectors will likely want this because of its obscurities, and will probably clamor for more. Some of the famous "bird groups" are here, including the Meadowlarks, the Wrens (featuring Bobby Mansfield on "Why Can't You"), and the Blue Jays. There are three selections from Joel & the Dymensions, and two apiece by the Dubs and Margo Silvia with the Tune Weavers. Former followers of the hit parade will enjoy the Five Keys' "Miracle Moment of Love," while baseball fans will recall Arthur Lee Maye, a Milwaukee Braves player who sang the magnificent "Moonlight." If this is only the first volume, please bring on the rest. ~ Michael G. Nastos
