MIRACLE is a very appropriate title for William Hung's third (yes, third) album, since many would agree that it probably took divine intervention to give the tone-deaf AMERICAN IDOL contestant more than 15 minutes of fame. A year and a half after his infamous 2004 TV rendition of Ricky Martin's "She Bangs," Hung unleashes more off-key takes on pop tunes, this time under the shady umbrella of a summer theme.
As on his earlier efforts, Hung exudes a bizarre sort of charm with his amiable attempts at singing, with the worst renditions proving to be the most entertaining tracks. Hung's version of Barry Manilow's "It's a Miracle" features Casio-like keyboards and cheerful backing vocals, but the real show-stopper here is his enigmatic performance of Randy Newman's "I Love L.A." For those needing more of Hung's sunny presence in their music collections, MIRACLE is a perfect summertime gift.
