Obscure but legendary early rock & roller Ray Smith never matched his contemporaries' fame, but was nevertheless an important part of the Sun Records' legacy. Raucous tracks like "Right Behind You Baby" attempt to beat Jerry Lee Lewis at his own crazed game, while "Put Your Arms Around Me Honey" has more in common with later teen rock of the Jimmy Rodgers "Honeycomb" variety. In typical thorough Bear Family Records fashion, ROCKIN' LITTLE ANGELS pairs 34 of the singer's original and unreleased performances with a 56-page booklet featuring extensive interviews with Ray and his associates (including Sun Records founder Sam Phillips), as well as a number of rare photos.
