The life of rap impresario Lil Troy is a testament to the conflicts and contradictions inherent in the modern hip-hop scenario. Though the Texan has been in and out jail over the years, he's managed to start his own record company, produce several artists, and even introduce his own clothing line. Somewhere in there he also found time to establish himself as a first-rate rapper. BACK TO BALLIN' is a perfect example of Troy's hard-hitting style. Needless to say, considering his checkered past, he concentrates heavily on thug life tales, romanticizing the gangsta scene and unloading a seemingly limitless line of bragadoccio regarding his prowess in the love-'em-and-leave-'em department. Nevertheless, its Troy's entrepeneurial skills that most strongly inform his work, and the perks of financial success, even for a hard character from the streets, are the real bottom line on BACK TO BALLIN'.
