Rapper Big Gipp is best known as a member of Goodie Mob and Dungeon Family, and for his collaborations with Outkast. In other words, he's a major player on the Southern rap scene. As such, even though he paved the way for many other rappers from the region, he's got more on his mind than most of said followers. Certainly, Gipp's got no aversion to getting down and coming off as a true Southern player, but there's a strong intellectual bent to some of his lyrics as well. Atop that trademark thick, loose-limbed Southern sound, he spends a fair amount of MUTANT MINDFRAME (so named for his self-perceived outsider status) breaking it down in socio-political terms for those who are open to more than just the standard hip-hop tropes.
