Britain's Amp combines the atmospherics of ambient/space-rock with just a touch of pop sensibility, setting them apart from labelmates like Magnog and Stars of the Lid. The layers of electronically processed guitars and keyboards that swirl through the album often churn into heavy, discordant storms of sound, effectively removing PROJECTIONS from the "trance-rock" pigeonhole.
Several cuts feature the soft, subtly intoned vocals of Karine Chariff, sung over tentatively intimated chord progressions and melodies. These whiffs of traditional song structure provide an anchor for the group's journeys into the sonic stratosphere. The former is evoked most strongly in the delicate acoustic guitar arpeggios that open and close "Stellata," providing the perfect change of pace. Similarly, on "Shiftime," Chariff's purposefully repetitive vocals are anchored by an almost dub-like rhythm section and colored by abstract washes of guitar a la early PiL.

Alternative Press (11/96, p.68) - 4 (out of 5) - "...Picking up where Flying Saucer Attack dozed off, AMP are another gang of Anglos dousing their folk melodies in oceanic effects....Amp have created a soundtrack that actually attempts to address the imaginary film they are scoring..."
