Both Webster and Gordon sound inspired on this release, and pianist Kenny Drew, bassist Bo Stief, and drummer Ed Thigpen also play with great gusto. Gordon's sound (and soloing) is much more modern than Webster's. However, Webster's \"old school\" approach fits in nicely with these boppers, if only because his style shows that the roots of jazz are inherent in bebop.\u003cbr\u003eUnfortunately, Webster doesn't play on the one ballad \"Didn't We.\" Webster's ballad work can't be beat, and it's a shame that it isn't showcased here. Instead, we are treated to Gordon's fine tenor work on this number. All things considered, strong readings of songs such as \"Some Other Blues\" by John Coltrane and Ellington's \"In A Mellow Tone\" make this release sizzle.","brand":"MovieMars","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52292574478623,"sku":"7619945021020","price":21.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0679\/7833\/0399\/files\/a661d6dd04cbb860ace94aff0ca128ed_bae15720-e75f-4bf3-9d61-9b9ce656d32f.jpg?v=1777964276","url":"https:\/\/www.moviemars.com\/products\/baden-1972","provider":"MovieMars","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
