Lil Armstrong, whose life and career did not end when she broke up with Louis Armstrong in the early 1930's, sings on all of the songs and does not play piano at all. However her sidemen (which include Joe Thomas or Shirley Clay on trumpet, clarinetist Buster Bailey, Chu Berry, Robert Carroll or Prince Robinson on tenor and Teddy Cole or James Sherman on piano) are quite talented and give her consistently strong support along with some short solos. Lil's \"Just For A Thrill\" is best-known among these generally overlooked sides and some of the better selections are \"Brown Gal,\" \"Doin' The Suzy-Q,\" \"Born To Swing\" and \"Bluer Than Blue.\" ~ Scott Yanow","brand":"MovieMars","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47067935670559,"sku":"5018121130129","price":18.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0679\/7833\/0399\/files\/09c8f62da3d1b703eff4a0844f873a37.jpg?v=1718169202","url":"https:\/\/www.moviemars.com\/products\/born-to-swing-1936-1937","provider":"MovieMars","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
