In the remote Appalachian wilderness, cantankerous biologist Clarence (Robert Longstreet) embarks on an extensive research expedition with his two deadbeat graduate students, Ian (Zach Weintraub) and Albert (Whitmer Thomas). Yet the unexpected arrival of a troupe of esoteric, whimsical hikers causes the rigidity of Clarence's scientific method to crumble, influencing the lives of all three biologists in an unprecedented and thought-provoking manner.
