This documentary presents never-before-seen archives from four generations of director Thomas Heise's family, covering the two world wars, an economic collapse, a horrible genocide, and the rise and fall of many ideologies. Through intimate diary entries, letters, and photographs, the film showcases the many political and cultural events that have shaped Germany's history since the 19th century.
