Plenti played acoustic performances around New York City during the late '90s until Interpol took off in 2001, but shelved the moniker until '06. Since Banks is so distinctive as Interpol's voice, it's easy to think any music he's involved in would sound like his main gig, but in fact, one of the biggest differences between this record and his other work (and one that strengthens the case for him to have an alias) is Banks' singing style. His voice has gotten richer and less forced over the years, and songs like the gently persuasive album opener \"Only If You Run\" show off a softness that only surfaces occasionally in Interpol's music. JULIAN PLENTI IS SKYSCRAPER takes the scenic route, and it pays off with an intimate, subtle set of songs that are strong in their own right. It may not be a radical departure, but it's still nice to hear Banks in a different setting - even if it takes a different name for that to happen.","brand":"MovieMars","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46273636794655,"sku":"744861087328","price":13.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0679\/7833\/0399\/files\/a9135d817d2d82aaa9d75bd364fe5bc1_cf90dceb-eecc-4887-97db-b764789cdbad.jpg?v=1777894152","url":"https:\/\/www.moviemars.com\/products\/julian-plenti-is-skyscraper","provider":"MovieMars","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
