All of the St. Louis-based musicians are quite obscure, although some of the sidemen (most notably Lonnie Johnson, Roosevelt Sykes, Peetie Wheatstraw, and Clifford Hayes) were major names. The music ranges from good-time performances to lowdown blues. Vocalist Jelly Roll Anderson is backed by a small group on four numbers; violinist Henry Johnson jams on six instrumentals; and vocalists Bert \"Snake Root\" Hatton, Red Mike Bailey, Jimmy Strange, and Georgia Boyd are heard on their only two selections. Even more obscure is Ell-zee Floyd (who only recorded one song), Spider Carter (who had three numbers), and Jesse Johnson (heard on the two-part \"I Wish I Had Died in Egyptland\"). Intriguing and very rare music. ~ Scott Yanow","brand":"MovieMars","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51454354293023,"sku":"714298518122","price":17.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0679\/7833\/0399\/files\/3c6437902305f1f26d6c487121ac2f53_e42a8de4-9079-494f-b57b-acddbf5c6f2c.jpg?v=1777528972","url":"https:\/\/www.moviemars.com\/products\/st-louis-1927-1933","provider":"MovieMars","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
