{"product_id":"t-bird-gang","title":"T-Bird Gang","description":"Richard Harbinger's teen exploitation drama T-Bird Gang (1959), starring a pre- (but not too pre-) Peyton Place Ed Nelson as the villain (who listens to Vivaldi for relaxation), was one of the more interesting movies produced by Roger Corman's Filmgroup, despite being a somewhat late entry in Corman's B-movie output. Alpha Video's DVD release comes from a clean print that is transferred full-frame (1.33:1) and is -- if the credits are an indicator -- cropped on either side, despite its not being an anamorphic film. That image framing, and the excessively close-up picture that results, is almost the least of the \"problems\" in this ultra-low-budget release, which makes Corman's AIP output of the late '50s look opulent and has action sequences that will recall fond memories of Edward D. Wood Jr. at work. The image in the daylight scenes is somewhat too bright, indicating that too much light is being forced through the print, and the focus is a little soft, but one suspects that nothing in this movie looked like, say, Citizen Kane on its best day in distribution. The exception is the jazz score by Shelly Manne and his band, which was probably the most expensive part of the production; it gets nicely reproduced here in all of its brash glory (it's recorded better than the dialogue, which also comes out well). The 65-minute movie is nicely served by the six chapters, which break the plot down quite well. The disc opens on a simple three-selection menu.","brand":"MovieMars","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44630073934111,"sku":"089218427496","price":15.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0679\/7833\/0399\/files\/3b84c82c963d7f802d40e10f5174478a.jpg?v=1754660292","url":"https:\/\/www.moviemars.com\/products\/t-bird-gang","provider":"MovieMars","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
